Novel Visualisation Methods for Protein Data
نویسندگان
چکیده
Visualization of high-dimensional data has always been a challenging task. Here we discuss and propose variants of non-linear data projection methods (Generative Topographic Mapping (GTM) and GTM with simultaneous feature saliency (GTM-FS)) that are adapted to be effective on very highdimensional data. The adaptations use log space values at certain steps of the Expectation Maximization (EM) algorithm and during the visualization process. We have tested the proposed algorithms by visualizing electrostatic potential data for Major Histocompatibility Complex class-I proteins. The experiments show that the variation in the original version of GTM and GTMFS worked successfully with data of more than 2000 dimensions.

متن کاملTarget Motion Analysis Visualisation
Target motion analysis (TMA) visualisation is used by naval ships to locate targets around ownship when more accurate methods such as active sonar are not viable. TMA utilises an array of data, the main source being passive sonar, and results in an almost infinite number of possible solutions. These solutions must be filtered by the TMA operator to identify the most probable or hazardous soluti...
متن کاملSequence Bundles: a novel method for visualising, discovering and exploring sequence motifs
BACKGROUND We introduce Sequence Bundles--a novel data visualisation method for representing multiple sequence alignments (MSAs). We identify and address key limitations of the existing bioinformatics data visualisation methods (i.e. the Sequence Logo) by enabling Sequence Bundles to give salient visual expression to sequence motifs and other data features, which would otherwise remain hidden. ...
متن کاملO-5: Identification of Novel ImmunodominantEpididymal Sperm Proteins Using CombinatorialApproach
Background: Alteration in the protein signatures of functionally immature testicular spermatozoa occurs during their journey through the epididymis. This leads to acquisition of sperm domain specific functions essential for successful fertilization. Epididymal sperm proteins are preferred targets for immunocontraception as well as in elucidating the causes of infertility. The Background of the ...
متن کاملA Survey of Visualization for Live Cell Imaging
Live cell imaging is an important biomedical research paradigm for studying dynamic cellular behaviour. Although phenotypic data derived from images are difficult to explore and analyse, some researchers have successfully addressed this with visualisation. Nonetheless, visualisation methods for live cell imaging data have been reported in an ad hoc and fragmented fashion. This leads to a knowle...
